Barbara Ann (Thompson) Siebenmorgen, age 72, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at her home.
She was born August 15, 1939, in Fairmont, Minnesota, and grew up on a farm with her parents, Herman and Lucille Muth Thompson, near Rake, Iowa. There, she attended and graduated from Rake High School in 1957, with the honors of Salutatorian. She then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and attended a business school where she met Gerald “Jerry” Siebenmorgen. They moved to California and on July 21, 1961, and married in Burbank, California. Later, they moved to Topeka, Kansas, and then to Independence, Missouri. Together, they have two children, Richard Paul “Rick” and Tammy Jo.
In 1990, Barbara and Jerry retired and moved to Sunrise Beach, Missouri, to their lake home to enjoy fishing and boating.
Barbara worked at H&R Block for 30 years until she was unable due to her failing health. She was very active in the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Siebenmorgen of the home; her son, Richard “Rick” Siebenmorgen and wife Sabrena of Gravois Mills, Missouri; her daughter, Tammy Agey and husband Kenneth of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Tara, and Tyler Siebenmorgen, Ryan, Jackson, and Katie Agey, and Raquel Cook; two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Reece; her sisters, Karen Asmus of Blue Earth, Minnesota and Betty Nicholson of Arvada, Colorado; her brother, Richard Thompson and wife Michelle of Rake, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Lucille Thompson, and brothers-in-law, Howard Asmus and Howard Nicholson.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, at the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the church with a rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Laurie.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice Compassus.
