 Susie Farmer, 74 of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at her home in Magnolia.

She was born on November 4, 1937 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Merle Arthur and Marguerite Virginia (Atkeson) Dunn.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dr. John Milburn Farmer, and a brother William A. Dunn.

     Susie grew up in Camdenton, Missouri.  She married her grade school sweetheart, John Farmer on December 22, 1957.  Upon completion of his medical training in 1966, she moved with him to Magnolia and began to raise a family.  She and John were first welcomed here by Larry and Tommie Price, with whom she remained close friends for forty five years.

Since childhood she had a deep love of animals.  She and John raised and showed English Pointers and later, Arabian horses, winning many trophies and awards and making life long friends.  She was always happiest at the barn taking care of her dear friends and companions, the horses, or with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  She was also a wonderful cook and immaculate housekeeper.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Arabian Horse Association.

She is survived by her three children, Becky Ainsworth and husband Paul of Magnolia, Teressa Wilson and husband Ricky of Magnolia, John Farmer and wife Stephanie of Benton, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, John Robert Cardwell of Springfield, Katherine Cardwell, Abby Vann, Anna Marie Wilson, Wesley Wilson all of Magnolia, John Farmer and Allison Farmer of Benton, and David Ainsworth and Karen Freeman.  Susie is also survived by her extended family and special friends, Susan and Russ Gill, John and Beverly Carmichael, Jimmy Carmichael, Larry and Tommie Price, Margie Jones, Tommie Shelts, Dr. Larry Franks, and Willie Jones.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Kelso and Rev. Raymond Cammack officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc of Magnolia.  Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Columbia County Protection Society, PO Box 2003, Magnolia, Arkansas  71754 or to the Magnolia Regional Medical Center Foundation, PO Box 629, Magnolia, Arkansas 71754.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Carmichael, John Carmichael, Russ Gill, Evan McCrary, Jeff Prince, and Seth Jean. www.lewisfuneralhome.biz
