50, shown his Simmental cattle in major shows across U.S.; substitute teacher at the School of the Osage


Bruce (Chip) Prestien, 50, of Lake Ozark, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.  
He was born Sept. 4, 1959, in Waterloo, Iowa, to James and Donna (Scott) Prestien.  
He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Denver, Iowa.  
He graduated from Denver High School in 1977.  Following graduation, he attended the Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa and earned a degree in Animal Science. He then worked at ranches in Texas, Montana, Illinois and Missouri.
He married Naomi Shumard in Illinois and to this union was born his daughter Chelsea.  On Nov. 14, 1986, he was united in marriage to Jolene (Inslee) Prestien in Marion, Ark., who survives of the home.  
In 1987, they moved to Lake of the Ozarks, where they operated the North Shore Resort.  
Other survivors include his children, Chelsea of Iowa City, Iowa, Cody, Charli, and Cash, of the home; his mother Donna Prestien of Lake Ozark; a sister Jody Pickard and her husband Mike; three nieces and one great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Prestien, and his brother Scott Prestien.
He has shown his Simmental cattle in major shows across the United States, along with his family members and other close friends helping.  
Chip has been a member of the Missouri Simmental Association for several years and served on the Board of Director’s from 1998 to 2003, was president elect in 2000, and president in 2001.  Chip then returned as a board member in 2007 to present.  He was also a member of the American Simmental Association.  
Chip has been a substitute teacher at the School of the Osage and volunteered at many different sporting events.  “GO OSAGE!”
Services for Chip will be held Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, with visitation from 4-6 p.m. followed by the 6 p.m. funeral service at the Lake Ozark Christian Church in Lake Ozark with Rev. Larry Gallamore officiating.  
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The American Cancer Society or the Chip Prestien Memorial Fund.  Private interment will be held at a later date.
