63, Army vet was a Chicago cop for 30 years


Wayne Jerome Manning, 63, of Sunrise Beach, son of the late Jerry and Cecilia (Novakowski) Manning, was born June 29, 1946, in Chicago. He departed this life Nov. 18, 2009, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
On July 1, 1994, he was united in marriage to Pat (Barnas) Krasovec. Together they shared the last 15 years.
Wayne lived part of his childhood in Seattle, Wash., and Wichita, Kan., before his family returned to Chicago.
He joined the army in 1963, and was stationed in Washington state, and then Germany.
After his discharge he returned to Chicago.
He became a Chicago police officer in 1966. He served as a Chicago police officer for thirty years.
In preparation for his retirement, Wayne and Pat purchased property at the Lake of the Ozarks in 1992, and they built their house in 1993.
Shortly after his retirement in July of 1996, Wayne and Pat moved to Sunrise Beach as full time residents. Wayne continued his membership in the Fraternal Order of Police.
He transferred his American Legion membership from Illinois to Zach Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach, and served as an officer and on many committees.
Wayne was proud to have been named Legionaire of the Year for 2009-10. He was also a member of the Osage Community Elks Lodge #2705.
Survivors include his wife Pat, daughter Kim and husband Steve Juers of Orland Park, Ill., daughter Kari Manning of Hallsville, Mo., daughter Jen (Krasovec) and husband Twan Bounds of New York, son Neil Krasovec and wife Melissa of Newport, Ken., daughter Heather Krasovec of Oak Lawn, Ill., daughter Nicki Krasovec of Las Vegas, Nev., grandchildren Clair and Rachel Juers, Boden and Bae Bounds, and Mark Krasovec, sister Linda (Manning) Domberg and Mike Maloney of Cassopolis, Michigan, and brothers Charlie Manning and wife Elaine of Tinley Park, Ill., and Mark Manning and wife Mary Cay of Chicago, Ill., and many other loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life in memory of Wayne Manning will be held at the Sunrise Beach American Legion Post on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m.
