Doug served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for four years. Doug worked for many years for Standard Oil Company as a Regional Manager. He later went on to work for MOCA (Missouri Ozarks Community Action).

Gould Douglas Miller, age 79, of Lake Ozark passed away Monday, October 2 at his residence with his family surrounding him.

Doug was born April 16, 1938 in Ironton, Missouri to Gould and Lela Miller.

Doug married Evelyn Hensley who preceded him in death. He later married Vera Huenefeld on January 29, 1965, with whom he spent the last 52 years.

Doug served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for four years. Doug worked for many years for Standard Oil Company as a Regional Manager. He later went on to work for MOCA (Missouri Ozarks Community Action).

After retirement, he continued to serve the community by driving an OATS bus and volunteering at Lake Regional Health Systems in Osage Beach, Missouri. He was also instrumental in starting the first Hope House and Salvation Army outreach in the area. He was a member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church of Lake Ozark.

Doug is survived by his wife Vera who resides at home; daughter Julie Burg of Osage Beach; granddaughter Tanya Kollack and husband Brian; and 3 great-grandsons. He is also survived by step-daughter Karen Carr and husband Terry of Montgomery City, Missouri; step-son Gary Leu and wife Linda of Linn Creek; eight step-grandchildren and seventeen great step-grandchildren.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fredrick Miller.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 7 at 10 a.m. at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Lake Ozark.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hope House, Salvation Army or Mount Carmel Baptist Church of Lake Ozark.
