He was the past first vice-president of the American Veteran Freedom Riders Motorcycle club # 108 Rocky Mount, MO until he had to resign due to health issues. He retired to the lake where he worked as a pipefitter/plumber and handyman.
Charles “Steve” Swon, 66, of Rocky Mount passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23 at Lake Regional Hospital. He was born in Center, MO April 21, 1951 to Harold “Gene” & Norma (Kohler) Swon.
Steve was a union pipefitter for many years working for National Fire Sprinkler. He farmed for many years in the Ralls County area. He was the past first vice-president of the American Veteran Freedom Riders Motorcycle club # 108 Rocky Mount, MO until he had to resign due to health issues. He retired to the lake where he worked as a pipefitter/plumber and handyman.
Steve Swon could fix anything, and I mean anything. If you had a clogged drain, needed your roof lifted, or engine trouble, he would figure a way to accomplish his task. “Enjoy the ride Steve, we will all catch up with you later down the road”.
He is survived by his mother, Norma Swon of Center; one son, Brian Swon of Oklahoma City, OK; one daughter, Lesa Swon of St. Louis; one sister, Donna (Philip) Grisamore of Trenton; one grandson, Jace Barton of Center; niece and nephew Andrea (Jason) Bush of Macon and John (Christine) Grisamore of Savannah. Steve was preceded in death by his Father, Gene Swon.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be Friday, July 7 from 5 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at The Junction Lounge Area at 28840 Hwy 19, Perry MO 63426. Private family Inurnment will be in Center Cemetery, Center, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations to AmVets Post 108, PO Box 851, Rocky Mount, Mo 65072.
