Some Camdenton and Macks Creek residents may have notices a large bus bearing logos for the TV show “Live with Regis and Kelly.” They may not have noticed a man running behind the bus.
Endurance athlete Dean Karnazes is just over halfway through a run across the country. He ran through the Lake of the Ozarks area on Wednesday. Karnazes' run is to raise awareness of childhood obesity.
Run through the Ozarks
The ultramarathon man started his day in Hermitage. After running through Macks Creek and Camdenton, Karnazes turned off of Highway 54 at the Linn Creek Industrial Park. From Linn Creek, he ran to route A and turned on to Swinging Bridges Road. Karnazes eventually connected with Highway 42 at Brumley and will use 42 to cover much of eastern Missouri.
On his running speed
"Many people have asked about my pace. In determining how to set my cadence, I try to listen to my body. Sometimes I feel like pushing it, other times I feel like backing off and recovering. It all depends on how I feel."
