(AP) — Missouri officials have closed swimming beaches at a half-dozen state parks because of high levels of E. coli bacteria.
The Department of Natural Resources said Wednesday the beaches will closed for the weekend.
One of the six beaches, at Mark Twain State Park in Monroe County, had already been closed because of high water levels.
The others being closed for the weekend are located at Wakonda State Park, south of LaGrange; Crowder State Park, west of Trenton; Cuivre River State Park, northwest of St. Louis; Thousand Hills State Park, in Adair County; and St. Joe State Park, in St. Francois County.
