It could be better. Looking at the city of Lake Ozark’s sales tax revenues for 2009, it could also be a lot worse for the municipality.
When comparing general sales tax revenues from January through October between 2009 and 2008, the city is down 13 percent. Capital improvement sales tax is down 10 percent, and the same with the transportation sales tax.
The trend of sluggish sales tax mimics other municipalities across the lake area.
City Administrator Dave Van Dee said the 2009 budget anticipated a slight growth in some areas because of some developments that were expected to take off. When those developments didn’t get as far as expected in the construction phase, the city tightened its spending.
