Editor's note: The headline for this post originally incorrectly stated this was a sewer bond vote. The sewer system in and around Macks Creek will not be affected by this bond. It will only be the water supply system.
With a vote tally of 52 to 36, the proposal to commit to a $1.5 million special obligation bond for the Public Water Supply District No. 1 passed Tuesday night.
The bond will be used to upgrade the 36-year-old water supply system in and around Macks Creek. It will also open up stimulus fund opportunities for the district, which will defray some of the costs to users and pay back large portions of the bond.
Installing new pipes, enhancing security around water towers and raising the height of the Elliot tower are among the changes proposed by the district water board.
