Aquapalooza is on the move. MarineMax has partnered with Dog Days at the 19-mile marker to be the host site for the largest on-the-water boat party at the lake.
The date, events and all the same party and entertainment festivities are still on, only the location has changed. The party will run from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday July 18.
Promoted by Sea Ray and Marine Max to celebrate summer on the water, it is billed as a family-friendly event.
Aquapalooza was originally scheduled to be held in Chimney Cove at the 13-mile marker.
There was a change in plans late last week after residents who live nearby raised concerns about the number of boaters who were expected to show up for the event. They were concerned about the noise, congestion and the potential for property damage from wakes.
Dave Bigge, of MarineMax, said registration for the event has already exceeded 600 boats.
“The pace isn’t slowing down,” he said. “MarineMax recognizes that Chimney Cove may no longer be an appropriate and safe venue based on the attendance numbers. MarineMax has partnered with Dog Days. The site offers a larger area and no wake protection to provide a suitable site.”
Dog Days is one of the lake’s most popular waterfront bar and entertainment spots. By land it is off Jefferies Road in Osage Beach. By water Dog Days is at the confluence of the main channel and Grand Glaize Arm of the lake.
