The Missouri Department of Transportation will be celebrating the end of a two-year long highway construction project with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
Local and state officials will gather for the ceremony and the festivities.
Several events are being planned in addition to the ribbon-cutting to commemorate the completion of the new Route 5 in Camden County.
The evening activities include a car show, a bouncy house for the kids and a fireworks display.
The fireworks show will start at 9 p.m. and is being sponsored by three area businesses: Missouri Eagle, Reinhold Electric and Central Bank Lake of the Ozarks.
After the show is complete, Route 5 will be open to its first public vehicles.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at the new Route 5 northbound lanes just south of the new Highway 54 and Route 5 interchange in Camdenton.
To get there, go south on existing Route 5 toward High Brothers, take the northbound ramp to the new Route 5 and MoDOT staff will direct you to the location of the ceremony.
Congressman Ike Skelton is scheduled to attend.
The evening activities will be on the northbound on ramp just north of the Highway 54 bridge crossing the new Route 5. Vehicles can get there the same way as they would the morning’s ceremony.
