Fourteen Camdenton High School DECA chapter students traveled to Jefferson City February 2 to compete in District competition.  Ten of the fourteen students placed high enough to move on to State competition, which will be held at the Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, MO March 18-20.  DECA State competition has been held at the Lodge of Four Seasons for more than a decade.  Approximately 2,000 students and advisors will gather there to compete in a variety of marketing events, attend marketing seminars, participate in collaborative leadership activities, and enjoy and learn from motivational speakers.

Juliana Civitate, Chapter Secretary; Hallie Mills, Chapter Treasurer; and Cassie Dorman, Chapter Historian received first place in Entrepreneurship Written Event, which consisted of a detailed Business Plan, an objective test, and a presentation to one or more judges.  Brianna LaRose and Lakin Ford received first place in Fashion and Merchandising Promotion Plan.  Brianna and Lakin were also recognized at the conference as “Dressed for Success.”  Kailey Lembke, Shanna Patten, and Samantha Oliver placed first in Creative Marketing Project (Shanna was not able to attend District competition but will be attending State to help her team move on to the next level).  Anastasia Blansett placed first in Principles of Finance.  Gram Richeson, Chapter President; and Austin Thompson, Chapter Vice-President, received second place in their Ad Campaign Project.

All students hope to place high enough at State to move on to DECA International Career Development Conference held in Salt Lake City, Utah April 27 – May 2.
