Development company RIS, Inc., is asking Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Land Reclamation Commission to approve a surface mining permit.

The permit is to mine limestone for 10 years on 60 acres of land located in Lake Ozark, near the intersection of Highway 54 and Bagnell Dam Boulevard.

RIS, Inc., with Gary Prewitt at the helm, is currently developing the 220-acre property into a planned unit development. The zoning allows for a mixture of commercial and residential uses. The first phase is known as the Shoppes at Eagle’s Landing.

The only utilities that run through the proposed site are power lines. Before work begins, RIS, Inc., will have to set aside $30,000 to cover a bond on the property, the amount set per state statute.
