Before you hit the main gate, thousands of lights glow in the distance.
It is a must see stop in the lake area for the holiday season and there is lots to do this weekend.
Tan-Tar-A Resort gets into the Christmas spirit each year and it shows.
It takes months to set up for the festive occasion. Back in October, workers began untangling the lights and hanging strands around the property.
It seems like every inch is decorated with brightly lit decorations and wooden figurines. Even the main lobby sets the mood - down to the 35 feet tall Christmas tree in the main lobby.
According to Terri Baer, director of recreation, a lot of hard work goes into making the resort a special place to visit. The official lighting ceremony took place Thursday night but thee are a number of events planned this weekend and throughout the month of December to ring in the holidays.
It’s an easy place to spend the day. Head into The Bears Den Arcade where you can find state-of-the-art video games, classic favorites and the best in electronic simulators. Do some window shopping at the boutiques where the decorations continue lining the walls. Or pull out the swim suit and take a dive down one of the enormous slides at the indoor waterpark.
And if you have trouble finding your way around, someone is at the activities desk to help out, Baer said.
