A development dispute cast a shadow over Camdenton's Board of Alderman meeting Tuesday night, which had seven citizens in attendance.
Area developer John Williams and property owner Noelle Ark spoke at the meeting about the unpaved road at the Shadow Oaks subdivision.
Ark, who lives in the subdivision, said Williams originally promised the road would be done last fall, then last spring and then again last June. She also said the underdeveloped ditches allowed rainwater to collect and flood her yard.
Williams told the board that because the city had not determined what the specifications for the road should be, he was not able to go forward with the road.
Public Works Director Bill Jeffries said the engineer needed to assess what the depth of the concrete should be to sustain the continuos use of the road by the city's garbage trucks.
The board decided that the necessary actions should be made, such as the depth assessment, so the matter could be resolved as soon as possible.
Williams said as soon as he got those specifications and he decided what materials to buy, it could take him as little as two weeks to build the road.
Other noteworthy actions
• The board approved the Leave Sharing Policy, where city employees may donate their unused leave days to other employees who have exhausted their own due to severe illness, injury, impairment, or physical or mental condition.Discussion during the vote suggested the resolution comes as a result of a current employee's severe illness.
• During the first reading of a bill that would amend the construction codes for the city's streets, sidewalks and public property, Alderwoman Sandy Osborn showed disapproval of the section that would require existing gravel driveways to be paved if alterations, such as replacing an old culvert, should be done. The board decided to suspend the second reading of the bill until the following meeting, giving them a chance to consider Osborn's position.
