A Sunrise Beach man is hospitalized and faces criminal charges after a Sunday afternoon ATV accident on Shawnee Bend.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 49-year-old Leonard Combrevis was riding a 2005 Yamaha ATV along Asbury Lane, just off of Lake Road F-12. At 1:40 in the afternoon, Combrevis swerved to avoid crashing into another ATV, operated by 53-year-old Tamra Hendrix of Gravois Mills.

Combrevis' Yamaha rolled, sending him on to the roadway. He suffered what the Highway Patrol classified as moderate injuries. Combrevis was not wearing a helmet.

Combrevis was flown by Staff for Life helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia. The Highway Patrol cited Combrevis and Hendrix for illegally operating an ATV upon a highway and for driving while intoxicated. Hendrix was taken to jail. Combrevis was released to the hospital.
