The organizers of the second annual Totes for Ta-Tas charity auction ask ladies around the Lake of the Ozarks to clean out their closets for a good cause by donating gently used or new purses to help combat breast cancer.
What it is: A silent auction featuring totes, purses and wallets. The organizing committee accepts new and gently used items for the auction, the proceeds from which benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation for breast cancer research and for Lake Regional Cancer Center.
History: In 2010, the first year of Totes for Ta-Tas at Lake of the Ozarks, the auction raised more than $4,000.
"We were extremely excited about what we raised for a first year event. Since we've added Lake Regional as one of the proceed recipients, we hope to possibly double that or at least come close to it, so we can give three or four thousand dollars to both Susan G. Komen and Lake Regional Cancer Center," organizing committee member Melissa Carroll said.
Where to donate: Totes for Ta-Tas has collection sites in Camdenton, Lake Ozark, Osage Beach, and the west side.
Collection sites include Lake Printing Co. in Osage Beach, Blinds and More in Osage Beach, Essentials Salon and Spa in Lake Ozark, the Mother's Shrine in Laurie, and the Lake Sun in Camdenton.
Why donate: Help a good cause, cut down on some clutter, and plan to shop for something new for your collection.
