Some web posts on Facebook are referring to it as possibly a senior prank. Whatever it was, students in Climax Springs got an extended weekend break after school officials called classes off for the day while they fixed tires on the district’s fleet.
According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, 11 of the 12 buses the district runs were the target of vandals who sometime over the weekend pulled the valve stem covers off the front tires. As the air seeped out of the tires and the weight of the buses shifted, it broke the seal.
By the time drivers arrived on Monday to start their routes, all 11 buses had two flat tires. The vandalism was reported to the sheriff’s department on Monday morning.
The district had to pull the tires off the buses to fix the seals before they could run the routes.
