It was a race against the clock as Nina Smith took a shopping cart and prepared to make a run, crisscrossing through the aisles as the HyVee Grocery Dash got underway.

As the count down came over the store sound system, Smith readied herself to take off with her eye already on the first items she was going to laod in the first cart.

Smith, of Lake Ozark, was the winner of the HyVee Grocery Dash drawing that entitled her to a full 2-minute run through the store. The goal was to see how many grocery carts Smith could fill in 2 minutes.

Smith is a frequent shopper at HyVee but it was actually her significant other, Jeff Hail, who had encouraged her to enter.

Smith had a game plan ready heading into the dash, going to straight to some higher dollar items. Smith was cheered on by HyVee staff, family members and a few onlookers who were in the store. By the end of the dash, Smith had filled 3 carts to overflowing. Her total came to over $1,200 of groceries, merchandise and housewares. It was enough to fill the back of Smith's SUV.

Smith said going into the dash she was excited and ready to do some serious shopping. Afterwards, Smith said she had a great time.

Store Director Bobby Fender said the grocery store dash is a fun event for the Osage Beach store to do.
