The Lake Sun is pleased to announce The Missouri Press Association Better Newspaper Contest results are in and several staff members were recognized for outstanding work.
The annual BNC is sponsored by the Missouri Press to recognize the work of newspaper journalists in print and online.
Lake Sun Sports Editor Michael Losch received 9 awards including first place for Best Sports Photograph and Best Sports Feature Photograph. Losch also grabbed honors in the sports news package category for his work with GAME NIGHT, the weekly publication covering football at Camdenton, School of the Osage and Versailles.
The Lake Sun staff was honored to receive first place for Best Coverage of Government for an opinion piece on transparency and politicians and a third place award for coverage of the Camden County Clerk’s office investigation.
Managing editor Amy Wilson lead the staff work on a series of stories on homeless students. The body of work received recognition with a third place award in the Best News Series.
The Lake Sun competed against numerous newspapers in their class from across the state of Missouri.
The awards were announced during the annual meeting of the Missouri Press Association.
