This award recognizes individuals who are champions of children’s issues and past winners include Mayor Francis Slay, Senator Roy Blunt and former Senator and Governor Kit Bond.

This year State Representative Diane Franklin, who represents parts of Camden and Laclede counties in the Missouri House of Representatives, was the recipient of the Crystal Wagon Award. Diane has served on the Camdenton R-III school board from 1993 to 1999 and served as Board representative to Lake Career and Technical Center, Parents as Teachers and the Dorothy Blair Scholarship Fund.

She is chair of the children’s and families committee for the Missouri House of Representatives and has sponsored numerous pieces of legislation that have served children across the state through foster care improvements, telehealth and Show-Me healthy babies.

Since 1956, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital has offered the highest level of care as the country’s only free-standing, non-profit Catholic pediatric hospital. Located in St. Louis, MO, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon provides hope to thousands of children with complex conditions from Missouri, Illinois and beyond. A member of SSM Health, one of the largest Catholic health care systems in the county, the 195-bed teaching hospital is staffed by SLUCare physicians affiliated with the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Since 2013, U.S News & World Report has recognized SSM Health Cardinal Glennon as a Best Children's Hospital. In every way, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon lives out the SSM Health Mission, “Through our exceptional health care services, we reveal the healing presence of God.”

“I am honored to receive this wonderful award, when I look at who the past recipients are, I am humbled to be in their company” said Franklin. “I have spent my time in the Missouri House fighting for our children, both the born and unborn.”

Other recipients this year were Senator Jeannie Riddle, Mr. Damon Harbison, Dr. Robert Wilmott, Dan Dierdorf.
