The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is working to improve nine bridges in Miller County and Cole County along U.S. Route 54. MoDOT started this multi-bridge project Mon., Sept. 10. The bridge over Little Gravois Creek is the first on the project. The bridge is approximately seven miles south of Eldon and approximately 0.3 miles west of Route V in Miller County.

The bridge work will limit westbound traffic to one lane through the end of October. MoDOT is working to repair decks and to apply a new concrete surface.

Drivers will be warned via electronic message boards. MoDOT encourages drivers to adjust travel times and speeds accordingly. MoDOT will be working on the nine bridges in the next ten months. Other bridges include five on Route 54 and one on Route 17 over Route 54.

The five on Route 54 are eastbound and westbound over Wrights Creek; eastbound and westbound over Old Tuscumbia Road; eastbound over Rock Island Railroad, east of Route 87 and both eastbound and westbound over Business Route 54. The next bridges will be eastbound and westbound on Route 54 over Wrights Creek. MoDOT expects to finish by the end of June 2019.
