Five-year-old Taylor, from Waynesville, has a goal. Her goal is to have ice cream with every mayor in every city in Missouri. That’s over 900 mayors.

So far over 20 mayors want to have ice cream with Taylor. T

aylor’s most recent stop on this tour was at Sweet Addictions in Camdenton to meet with both Camdenton Mayor John McNabb and Lake Ozark Mayor Johnnie Franzeskos. Taylor was presented with a small certificate by McNabb to honor the event.

McNabb and Franzeskos were number 10 and 11 on her trip. Taylor says that her favorite part of the journey so far is all of the friends she has made so far. With so many stops ahead, she can’t wait to see so many different people and taste a ton of ice cream.

“It’s really fun,” Taylor said. “I have made lots of friends and have got to do a bunch of fun stuff.”

The first city mayor to have ice cream with Taylor was Waynesville’s Mayor Luge Hardman. Mayor Hardman commented that she was honored to be Taylor’s first mayor ice cream date. Before the Mayor arrived, the Daily Guide had an opportunity to talk with Taylor. Last year Taylor learned how to read, swim, and ride a bike.

Taylor added, “I can ride without training wheels now.” Taylor is not sure how long meeting all the mayors in the state would take. Taylor said, “I have a pretty long list.”

Taylor does not have a favorite ice cream flavor. Taylor said, “I don’t have a favorite. I think they’re all nice.”

When Mayor Hardman arrived, she gave Taylor a city of Waynesville wristband and a Route 66 lapel pin. Mayor Hardman told Taylor, “What a cool thing to do. Let’s go eat our ice cream. I’m excited.”

Mayor Hardman and Taylor had an oatmeal raisin ice cream cookie sandwich with chocolate ice cream in the middle from Cookiez in Waynesville. While eating ice cream Mayor Hardman talked to Taylor about Waynesville and the city government and extended an invitation to Taylor and her family to take a tour of city hall.

Taylor talked to Mayor Hardman about the introduction of the waffle cone at the 1904 state fair in St. Louis, Missouri, Missouri’s State Dessert which is ice cream, Missouri’s state animal-the mule and Missouri’s state Amphibian-the bullfrog.

Mayor Hardman replied, “What does Waynesville have? Do we have a mule or a frog? We have Croaker. Croaker is a frog.” Taylor’s next ice cream date is in Richland and will continue from there.
