A Wheatland couple is dead after a motor vehicle collision on US 54 in Miller County Saturday night.

Harold R. Rempfer, 76, and Julia M. Rempfer, 73, were both pronounced dead at the scene at 11:10 p.m. August 25, 2018, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. Harold Romper was the driver of a 2010 Chevrolet Impala involved in a collision with a 2017 Ford F250 around 10:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of US 54 at Allen Road.

According to the crash report, the Impala was attempting to make a left turn onto US 54 from Allen Road. The car pulled into the path of the pickup and was struck on the driver side, the report stated. Both vehicles were forced off the roadway and came to rest in the median. 

The driver of the pickup was Caleb R. Zimmerman, 26, of California, Missouri. He did not have any reported injuries.

The report indicates Harold Rempfer and Zimmerman were not wearing seatbelts and Julia Rempfer was. The Impala was totaled. The Ford had moderate damage. Both were towed from the scene.

The Rempfers’ deaths were MSHP Troop F region’s fourth and fifth motor vehicle fatalities in August and the 46th and 47th in 2018.
