The newly-formed Lake Area Youth Robotics group is pleased to announce its coaches for the 2018-2019 season:

•Jason McKenna and Matt Strickler – for FIRST LEGO League (FLL) / ages 9-14 / Team name: Robo Ninjas / Challenge: Into Orbit

•Laura (Parrin) Grabowski – for FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) / ages 12-18 / Team Name: Magic Dragons / Challenge: Rover Ruckus

Lake Area Youth Robotics group was established by interested parents with the help of the School of the Osage Middle School PTA. The group is registered as part of the FIRST®program, an acronym for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” whose mission “…is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.” The FIRST® program encourages “Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition” through Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork, and Fun. Group is also open to all home- and private school kids. Applications are still being accepted for the FLL, Jr. and FTC teams. A $55 registration fee, per child, applies.
