Wilfriede Emma Lawson, of Gravois Mills, passed to the other side on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

Wilfriede Emma Lawson, of Gravois Mills, passed to the other side on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

She was born in the war torn German town of Polleben a daughter of Fritz and Emma (Kosiol) Ehrenberg.  Polleben was in the communist sector of Germany which became East Germany.  In 1957, she escaped the communist country to West Germany and eventually married James Lawson in August of 1968.

In addition to her husband, Jim, she is survived by her children, Petra Byrd and husband Charles of Killeen, Texas, Diana Ahern and husband John of Enterprise, Alabama, Tarry Lawson and wife Kristyn of Papillion, Nebraska, Robert Lawson and wife Melissa of Kenner, Louisiana, Karin Evans and husband Eddie of Avino, Florida and Karen Kill of Sweden; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a sister and half-sister in Germany.  She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and a son.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 15 at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation, Inc., 3610 West Market Street Suite 110, Akron, Ohio 44333 or at www.cjdfoundation.org.
