Patti Lee (Shaffer) Bateman passed away on July 6, 2018 at her home in Camdenton, MO, in the company of her brother and sister in law, Johnny and Vicki Shaffer. Patti was born in Elkhart, IN on December 31, 1937, to George and Ruth (Beggs) Shaffer.

Patti married Roger Bateman on April 4, 1964. They shared 44 years together, and while many years were spent in the lake area, they made several moves to congregations where “the need was great” for publishers and elders.

Patti was a spiritual sister, mother and aunt to so many wherever their travels took them, including Warsaw, MO, Topeka, KS, Hobbs, NM, and finally back home to the lake area. Patti was a wonderful cook, a seamstress and a meticulous house keeper. She was also an artist and had a great wit and sense of humor. She always had a cat or two, who almost always only loved her.

Patti loved bright vibrant colors, music, nature (especially fishing and blue birds!) and teaching the bible.

She is affectionately remembered by so many nieces and nephews, (biological and spiritual) for her tea parties, taco and pizza parties, and for her firm and loving care, whenever needed. The most important part of Patti’s life was her love of Jehovah and her faith in his Kingdom. She had a close and personal relationship with Jehovah God and believed firmly in the promise made in her “favorite” scripture:

“This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah says: ‘…Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth; And the former things will not be called to mind, nor will they come up into the heart.’” Isaiah 65: 13, 17 Patti is predeceased by her husband, Roger Bateman, her parents, George and Ruth Shaffer, and her sister, Micki Shaffer.

She is survived by her brother and sister in law, Johnny and Vicki Shaffer, nephew and nieces, Scott Shaffer, Tammy Wallace, Jonnie Scobell and Leslie Avila, many grand nieces and nephews and a large spiritual family.

The family would like to thank everyone from the congregation and community who was so supportive and encouraging, especially these past few months. They would also like to extend their appreciation to Lake Regional Hospice for their compassionate and dignified care in Patti’s last weeks.

A memorial service for Patti will be held Saturday, August 4 at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Camdenton, MO.
