One St. Louis man was seriously injured and another arrested in a one-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Miller County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Sylvester Johnson, 52, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital for treatment following the crash. MSHP incident report time indicates dispatch time of 7:30 a.m. July 14, 2018. He was a passenger in a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado that wrecked on Highway 52, 1,187 feet west of Versailles Avenue.
Driver James A. Curry, 44, received injuries described as minor and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital.
Curry was arrested by a state trooper at 11:17 a.m. for felony driving while intoxicated – alcohol causing serious physical injury, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, careless and imprudent driving resulting in a motor vehicle crash and no valid license. He was taken to the Miller County jail on a 24-hour hold, according to the arrest report.
According to the crash report, the eastbound pickup truck failed to negotiate a curve and went off the right side of the roadway, traveling down an embankment and overturning several times. The report indicated Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt and Curry was.
The pickup was totaled and towed from the scene.
