Porsche enthusiasts from around the globe will be converging on Lake of the Ozarks from July 8-14, as the The Porsche Club of America (PCA) holds their annual national convention at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach. Over 2,000 people and 900 Porsche's are expected to make their way around the lake area for a full week of activities and exploration.

The public is welcome to take part several of the events on the PCA schedule.

1. Concours d'Elegance:

Starting Monday, July 9, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., the Concours d'Elegance show of cars will be set up for public viewing on the fairway at Hidden Lakes Golf Course inside the Tan-Tar-A compound. The judged car show will include vintage cars such as the 550 Spyder, 356 Coupe and historic retired race cars, as well as more modern styles such as the 911 GT3 RS. The public can take photos, talk to car owners and enjoy food trucks on hand.

"The Concours d'Elegance is a jaw dropping car show to attend, it offers every different type of Porsche you can imagine," says PCA National Emcee and Porsche Parade marketing coordinator, Mark Shevitz.

2. Autocross Races:

Michelin North America will be sponsoring Autocross races on Wednesday and Thursday, July 11, 12, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Camdenton Airport. Competing in various classes based on years and models, this event features Porsche owners racing against the clock. Each car will receive three timed runs on the track and compete for trophies and bragging rights. This event is open to the public to attend.

3. Parade of Porsches:

The public is also invited to line the streets near the Bagnell Dam on Saturday, July 14, as an estimated 500 Porsche's will form a Porsche Parade from Lake Regional Hospital's parking lot in Osage Beach to the Dam, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Other events for PCA members will include driving tours around the lake, rally drives, a 5K run and golf tournament.

The members will also be attending various banquets, meetings and special speaking engagements throughout the week at Tan-Tar-A. Though, two free nights will allow them to hit the town and see the best of what the lake has to offer.

Choosing a new city to converge upon each year, the PCA says they are glad to be back at Lake of the Ozarks.

"The last time the PCA national convention was held in Missouri was at Tan-Tar-A, back in 1983," says Shevitz.

Coming from as far away as Australia, Canada, Alaska and South America, convention attendees will be filling up most every room at Tan-Tar-A Resort, various Osage Beach hotels, as well as renting condominiums and lake homes during their weeklong stay.

The group plans on taking tours of various spots around the lake and taking in the beautiful scenery.

The PCA is the largest single marque car club in the world, founded in 1955 and boasts over 133,000 members in 148 regions around North America, including a region in Germany- where the cars were born.

A native of St. Louis, Shevitz is especially proud to have the PCA National Convention so close to his hometown, "Everyone is really excited to be coming to Lake of the Ozarks, for some it will be their first time visiting and for me it's great to be back."
