A vessel was sunk on Lake of the Ozarks Saturday evening after being swamped by large wakes.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol incident report, no one was injured in the incident which occurred around 8:30 p.m. July 6, 2018 at the 38.3 mile marker at Porter Mill Cove.

A 1974 Gregor boat  - of unspecified size in the MSHP preliminary online report but Gregor’s boats are typically smaller aluminum vessels – was returning to a dock when a large wave came over the vessel. The boat sunk after it was struck by a second wave, the report states.

David M. Johnson, 49, of Conifer, Illinois was the operator of the vessel. He was not reported as having any injuries.

The report indicates he was not wearing a lifejacket.
