A new idea for a shuttle service to serve the Bagnell Dam Strip area during peak times is receiving widespread support.

A new idea for a shuttle service to serve the Bagnell Dam Strip area during peak times is receiving widespread support.

If all goes as planned, the Bagnell Dam STRIP EXPRESS will soon be making stops 7 days a week in Lake Ozark throughout the season.

The shuttles will allow easy access to the Strip for visitors and employees who can park in other areas and ride the bus to the Strip. The goal is to ease the parking congestion along the Strip.

The effort to bring the service to the Strip is being spearheaded by Lake Ozark Alderman Gerry Murawski and Dennis Klautzer. The two have  been working with business owners along the Strip to find a solution to the parking dilemma they face very year. Although Murawski and Klutzier are aldermen, the city is not involved in the plan.

The STRIP EXPRESS will begin running on June 29. Sunday thru Wednesday, the shuttle will run from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with extended hours of operation Thursday thru Saturday from noon to 2:00 a.m..

The route will begin at Iguana Campground below the dam and run to the Monarch Parking lot, across from Shawnee Bluff Winery. Every hour the shuttle will extend the route to include the Lodge at Port Arrowhead and Fish Haven Apartments. Stops along the route will be marked by large signs.

The service is being provided through a partnership with  a combination of grants by the Tri-County Transportation organization and local contributions. It will be managed and operated by OATS Transportation.
