Ronald Joseph Larkin of Osage Beach passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the age of 78.
He leaves behind a daughter, Kimberly (Peter) Yurkovich and granddaughter, Hannah, along with sisters, Joann and Mary.
Those who knew him knew he was a great storyteller, a person who never met a stranger and someone who spoke his mind regardless. An amazing thing about Ron was his lack of filter…his “say anything at any time to anyone” was basically a personal motto – in addition to, “they’ll get over it.” It’s a trait that was admired, and not appreciated, depending who was on the receiving end.
Ron’s father, who was not exactly likable, signed him into the Navy at the ripe age of 16 – an unintentional gift that took him all over the world to Hong Kong several times, the North Pole, Italy and Greece where he served on beach patrol for a month, among other destinations. He was also part of the Cuban Missile Crisis on one of the Naval ships that cruised around and around and around Cuba for days and days on end.
Ron married and divorced and married and divorced Dixie Ezard Larkin – in good times and bad they were a part of the other’s life for 60 years. Ron loved Miller Lite and making rounds to his favorite stomping grounds. He was most proud of his daughter and shared that with her, and anyone who would listen, regularly. Ron was a man who had no regrets, lived life on his terms and leaves behind great stories and fond memories and a daughter who will miss him terribly.
In lieu of a formal service, a casual gathering will be held at a TBD stomping ground in Osage Beach in the coming weeks.
