Betty L. Knighton, age 91, of Gravois Mills, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. She was born November 14, 1926, in Crescent City, Kansas, a daughter of the late George and Nellie (Curtis) Kalousek.

Betty L. Knighton, age 91, of Gravois Mills, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach.  She was born November 14, 1926, in Crescent City, Kansas, a daughter of the late George and Nellie (Curtis) Kalousek.

On September 5, 1948, in Lawrence, Kansas, she was united in marriage to George Knighton, Jr., who preceded her in death on October 18, 2017.

Betty worked as a registered nurse for many years.  Following her retirement, she enjoyed painting, wood carving, gardening and traveling in the RV.

She was a member of the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie where she was active in United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her sons, Kent Knighton and wife Cheryl of New Portland, Maine, Curt Knighton and wife Sally of Salt Lake City, Utah and Bob Knighton and wife Nancy of Angola, New York; her daughter, Sherry Knighton of Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Kalousek and her sisters, Jean Taylor and Peggy Schanze.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 27, at the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie with Pastor Tim Lee officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, at the church.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church.  Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
