Searching for an affordable, one of a kind experience for your children this summer? This year’s Camden County Extension 4-H Residential Camp theme is “Lewis and Clark”. Camp will be held at Windermere in Roach on Tuesday, July 17 through Thursday, July 19.

Programs range from traditional camp activities such as swimming, crafts, songs and campfires to fishing, cave tours, inflatables, canoes and nature activities. Camp is tailored for boys and girls ages 8 to 12 and is led by 4-H teen camp counselors who mentor campers in various activities throughout the camp week.

The goal of 4-H Camp is to create unique, meaningful camp experiences. 4-H Camps boast a rich history that dates back to over 80 years of camping experience. Our local MU Extension Council worked hard with a fund raising campaign and with the support of local area organizations and businesses to raise money for camperships for campers and counselors.

Camping provides an opportunity for young people to have a safe, structured experience in the outdoors with new and exciting learning opportunities. Young people learn independence, responsibility, decision-making and getting along with others while enjoying camping activities in a supervised environment. Camp give kids a chance to become unplugged and tuned into their environment.

Registration material can be received by calling the MU Extension in Camden County Office at 573-346-2644 or by email at camdenco@missouri.edu. Camperships are available.
