During National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, April 22–28, Lake Regional Health System recognizes its laboratory professionals and celebrates their dedication as crucial members of the health care team. Lab Week’s theme, “Laboratory Professionals Get Results,” recognizes the proactive, collaborative role laboratory professionals play in advancing patient care.

“I salute our outstanding laboratory professionals, who work together to provide accurate results for patients,” said Sherie Hall, MS MT(ASCP)DLM, director of Lake Regional Laboratory Services. “These professionals are the cornerstone of diagnosis and an integral part of the larger patient care team, directly contributing to preserving and enhancing patients’ lives.”

Using state-of-the-art technology and instrumentation, laboratory professionals perform and supervise tests that lead to the detection of potential health problems; the sooner a disease is caught, the greater the likelihood for a positive outcome. Lake Regional Laboratory Services currently has 36 employees, who serve as part of the health care team to guide and assess patients’ ongoing treatment and care. In fiscal year 2017, Lake Regional Laboratory Services completed 400,438 lab procedures, a nearly 13 percent increase from the previous year.
