Author to speak Wednesday, baseball and softball contests this weekend and a movie at the park

Life at the Berlin wall

The Senior Activity Center of the Lake will host speaker Gunther Skaletz, author of “Life on Both Sides of the Wall.” He will speak about his time spent on both sides of the Berlin wall 7-9 p.m. April 25. Cost is $3 for the public or $2 for members which includes ice cream and cookies.  

Baseball, softball contests

MLB Pitch, Hit & Run contest will be 9 a.m.-12 p.m. April 28 at Camdenton Ballpark. There is also a Jr. Home Run Derby contest. Free program is for boys and girls, 7-14. Participants compete for chance to advance. Pick up forms at Camdenton City Hall. Call 346-3600, bennettla@camdentoncity.com, for information.

Movie at the park

Lilly Barnes of Girl Scout Troop 71008 and her friend Lola Sheppard in Laurie are holding a movie night in the park at the Laurie Fairgrounds. “Paddington 2” will be showing at 7 p.m. April 28. Admission is one stuffed animal, which will be provided to local police and fire departments to give to kids in times of crisis.
