NDP President Ronnie Floyd said, “There is no denying our country is in deep trouble. In fact, we are living through what may turn out to be one of the most crucial moments of our generation. How we handle our gun violence problem, the migration crisis, the unresolved racial tensions in our society, the threats to religious liberty, among the other ongoing major issues…will have repercussions for generations to come.”
Last year, an estimated two million Americans joined together in unity to approach God on behalf of the nation on the National Day of Prayer, at more than 30,000 events, across all 50 states.
There will be a National Day of Prayer event at 6:30 p.m. on the Camden County Courthouse steps in Camdenton. Camdenton Heartland Worship Center Pastor Jerry O’Dell stated that he has seen a move towards a renewed sense of unity among lake area churches. Because of that, the pastors have agreed to move the NDP event in Camdenton to the evening, so that more people, from more churches can join together in unity to pray for the lake area. “We hope to see believers from all churches come together like never before to pray,” Pastor O’Dell said. “If believers from all of the churches unite together for prayer, we believe it could spark a revival here at the lake and draw many to Christ.”
The Westlake Ministerial Alliance, WLMA, will observe the NDP at noon on Thursday, May 3 at the Lake Christian Academy in Sunrise Beach. “I would like to encourage everyone to participate in a NDP event near them,” WLMA NDP organizer Pastor Nick Stutesman said. “In John 17:21 Jesus prayed, ‘that they may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they may also be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.’ We have peace and unity with God because of Jesus Christ. Let us join with Him in praying that we all may be one.”
The Versailles Ministerial Alliance will also pray at noon on the Morgan County Courthouse steps in Versailles.
Central Bank of Lake of the Ozarks will host a National Day of Prayer event from 7:30-8 a.m. on the front lawn of its main bank location in Osage Beach. Prayers will be spoken for federal, state and local governments, schools, lake area businesses, armed forces, entertainment and more. If inclement weather, the event will be moved into the Bank Community Room on Level 2. Refreshments will be served. All are invited and encouraged to attend and come together as a community to ask God to bless this nation and local community through prayer and music.
Prayer for Unity
NDP prayers will unite to make an appeal to heaven for unity in the seven centers of influence, including government, church, military, family, education, media arts and business.
The NDP focus will be on:
Unity in America, praying Ephesians 4:3
Unity in the church in America, praying 1 Corinthians 1:10
Unity in the families, workplaces, communities and cities in America, praying 2 Chronicles 30:12
Unity amongst all ethnicities and people in America, praying Ephesians 2:14
And prayer that we agree clearly, unite visibly, and pray extraordinarily for the next great spiritual awakening in America by praying Acts 1:14
“Yet, I believe the greatest threat America is facing is none of the issues above. It’s disunity,” Floyd revealed. “There is a real and powerful spirit of division reigning in America today and it’s tearing us from the inside. This is especially true in the church. A divided church cannot call a disconnected and fragmented nation to unity. Unity in America must begin in the church.”
“The church needs to stop fighting over secondary issues and doctrinal differences and unite around the core beliefs we hold as followers of Jesus: the infallible truth of Scripture, salvation in Jesus alone, and the command to take the gospel to every person in America and across the world,” Floyd reminds.
“Rest in the Lord,” he encouraged. “Whatever happens in America, we need to remember that our future is not in the hands of the United States government. Our future is in the hands of our Sovereign God. Ecclesiastes says, ‘there is a time for every activity under heaven.’ Right now, is the time to pray for peace.”
According to Floyd, NDP organizers are expecting a great movement of God in the heart of the church in America, with millions crying to him in one voice to heal our land. “It could be the start of spiritual revival in America,” Floyd declared.
