One-car accident kills woman, injures toddler

There’s been another fatality accident in Camden County, a one-vehicle wreck killing a Montreal, Missouri woman Monday evening and injuring a toddler.

Cathy S. Byler, 48, was the driver of a 1998 Buick LeSabre that was eastbound on West US Highway 54 in the Macks Creek area around 5:40 p.m. April 9, 2018. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Byler lost control of the vehicle, and it went off the left side of the roadway and overturned at 14469 W. US Highway 54. 

The report indicated Byler was not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced deceased at the scene at 6:30 p.m.

A one-year-old boy, Augustus J. Byler of Eldon, was also in the vehicle. The report indicated he was in a safety device. He received minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.

The Buick was described as totaled and was towed from the scene.

This was MSHP Troop F region’s third fatality in April and its 12th for 2018.
