The Lake of the Ozarks Woodcarvers Club sponsored a foam-carving class for children recently. Using safer wooden tools on foam instead of wood, the children learned carving skills - carving and painting some interesting hippopotamuses.

The Lake of the Ozarks Woodcarvers Club sponsored a foam-carving class for children recently. Using safer wooden tools on foam instead of wood, the children learned carving skills - carving and painting some interesting hippopotamuses.

The class was held at the Lake Career and Technical Center, and the volunteers from the carving club were: Pam Karl, Pam and Stan Kasiske, Loren Woodard, Doug Bibles, Tom Lease, Mark Giger, and Bud and Carol Murray.

The Lake of the Ozarks Woodcarvers Club meets the third Monday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Camdenton United Methodist Church. Beginners are welcome. There is open carving held weekly at the senior center at the following places: Laurie on Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m., Camdenton on Thursdays at 9 a.m. and Osage Beach Tuesdays at 9 a.m. and also the first and second Thursdays.
