Iberia Rural Fire Protection District reported being dispatched at 2:49 p.m. to a rollover crash, arriving on scene to find the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu off of the roadway with the patient still inside.

A Meta, Missouri woman received minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash in Miller County Monday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Cecile L. Shelton, 78, taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment. 

The accident occurred on Highway 42 500 feet south of Brays Mills Road around 2:45 p.m. April 2, 2018.

Iberia Rural Fire Protection District reported being dispatched at 2:49 p.m. to a rollover crash, arriving on scene to find the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu off of the roadway with the patient still inside. Firefighters used newly-acquired battery-powered extrication tools to remove the patient from the car, which the department said made the process much faster than the old equipment.

Firefighters extracted Shelton from the car and Miller County Ambulance transported her to the hospital.

The MSHP crash report stated the accident occurred when the car went off the west side of the roadway, striking a fence, then a tree and then another fence.

The car was described as totaled and was towed from the scene.

The crash report also indicated Shelton was not wearing a seatbelt.
