The rescue pigs are pristine, and the ducks are all in a row – everyone is ready to celebrate National Farm Animals Day at Longmeadow Ranch.

The Longmeadow Rescue Ranch team is dedicated to giving second chances to farm animals through rescue, rehabilitation and adoption. Longmeadow Ranch is a division of the Missouri Humane Society, a special place for farm animals. Spring Wagon Days is a prefect chance to load up the kids and take a trip to the farm. The farm’s mission is to not only provide a home and rehabilitation to farm animals but to teach others to treat farm animals with love and care.

You never know what type of farm animal will greet you upon arrival. The ranch has been home to all breeds of farm animals from horses to llamas, sheep, potbellied pigs, goats, ducks, chickens and more. Longmeadow Rescue Ranch invites farm animal lovers to visit for a fun-filled afternoon. Be prepared, a special group of residents available for sponsorship, the Barn Buddies, may be waiting. Pack the car and bring the gang.

Days

Animal lovers looking for an afternoon of farm animal fun – or interested adopters who want to take the next step in welcoming a farm animal into their family – are invited to explore the 165-acre ranch during Longmeadow Rescue Ranch Spring Wagon Days. These events feature wagon ride tours where visitors can see firsthand the safe haven Longmeadow provides to abused and neglected farm animals. Pack a picnic lunch.

When: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 28

Special Note: An extra special day to celebrate the 11th birthday of Twister, a thoroughbred mare. Twister survived a horrific overturned horse trailer accident in 2006 and has been at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch ever since. Recently, he’s become the ranch’s artist in residence. See Twister’s new painting skills in action, creating masterpieces by holding a paint brush in his mouth. When working, Twister even wears a beret. Check out his artwork on display during the event.
