He has the integrity and spirit of true advocacy when it comes to the many furry, four legged dogs and cats that are placed in his care. Whether relinquished, rescued or stray, Paul never refuses the unwanted.
Compassion, empathy, kindness and a love of animals only tips the descriptive iceberg of owner and operator, Paul Rhodes of Paws Place in Rocky Mount, Missouri. Paul came to the Lake of the Ozarks over 8 years ago with the intention of opening and maintaining Paws Place, a no kill, non-profit animal shelter as well as thrift store of the same name. He has the integrity and spirit of true advocacy when it comes to the many furry, four legged dogs and cats that are placed in his care. Whether relinquished, rescued or stray, Paul never refuses the unwanted.
He has personally managed over the years to advocate and care for his charges through the various donations, large and small received from the Lake community and he now needs your help. With these funds he has been able to pay for expensive veterinary bills and surgeries, food, lodgings, kennels, socialization, safety, training and upkeep; all done with an affection shown to each and every one as if they were his own.
What Paul has done and continues to do is to offer these sheltered animals a second chance at life. Their unconditional love is the thing they know and want to share with others who want a pet in their home; many of them were once a part of the family environment too.
There are aa multitude of reasons why people give up these pets, some are sad and some are due to circumstances beyond their control. Knowing this is where Paul’s heart expands to heroic, loving proportions that he selflessly displays day in and day out.
Recently, the shelter has fallen into hard times and circumstances beyond his control and it has created an urgent, dire need from the communities he so loyally serves. He literally is solely manning the daily duties required for upkeep and he is in need your assistance, dear reader.
As many may already know the thrift store, Paws Place on Business 54 in Lake Ozark has closed up shop forever. Their other location on Highway 54 in Camdenton is still open for business and in need of volunteers. Without a fully operational store, the needs of the shelter cannot be fully met. Without the support of the community through donations, the shelter will most definitely flounder too.
Paul’s desire for a healthy, loving and second chance at life for these animals is slowly diminishing and he needs community action! Won’t you please consider making a donation of any amount? It would help their survival and their future depend on the goodness of your heart.
Currently, what is needed the most is food and also, volunteers for the thrift store.
