According to the Missouri Highway Patrol accident report, Michael L. Benton was pronounced dead at the scene. Benton died after being ejected off the 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle he was operating.

A 51-year-old Wentzville man was killed and 3 lake area residents were injured in a 4 vehicle accident Friday afternoon on Highway 5 in Morgan County.

The accident was reported at 12 pm in Gravois Mills on Highway 5 north of Valley Road. 

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol accident report, Michael L. Benton was pronounced dead at the scene. Benton died after being ejected off the 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle he was operating.

Andrew Jackson, 31, of Gravois Mills, Nathan Jackson, 13 of Gravois Mills, and William Vogt, 54 of Barnett, were injured in the multi-vehicle crash. Injuries ranged from serious to minor. The driver of the fourth vehicle involved in the accident, Stephanie Flood, 29, of Stover, was not injured. Andrew Jackson and Vogt were not wearing seat belts, according to the online report.

The accident occurred when the 2006 Hyundai Elantra driven by Andrew Jackson crossed the center line and rear-ended a 1991 Mazda being operated by Vogt. Benton’s motorcycle was then hit by Andrew Jackson’s vehicle. The motorcycle then hit the fourth vehicle involved, a 2000 Ford Escort driven by Flood. 

Three of the vehicles involved in the crash were reported totaled by the highway patrol. Benton’s death was the first fatality for Troop F in March, the fourth for 2018.
