The Camden County Lake Area Planning and Zoning District will soon have a new administrator. The Camden County commission announced last week a replacement for former director Kim Willey has been hired.

Effective April 1, Tanna Writz will be heading up the planning and zoning department. Write was hired in at an annual salary of $52,000. The planning and zoning administrator is responsible for handling the day-to-day responsibilities of the department, supervising staff and implementing the rules and regulations within the district.

Camden County has been in the process of revising planning and zoning regulations over the last 3 years.

Presiding Commissioner Greg Hasty described Writz as “highly qualified and very experienced for the position.” Writz has previous experience working with FEMA and as planning and zoning administrator for areas surrounding Lincoln, Nebraska, he said.

Former administrator Willey is currently working part time for the planning and zoning department out of St. Louis where she moved after resigning. The  office has been without an in-house administrator since her resignation several months ago.

Willey will remain in the position until April 1 and Hasty hopes that she will help the transitional period for Writz to be smooth. Willey has been doing remote work for the office since her departure and has been paid on an hourly rate based on her previous salary. Any in office work has been directed to other workers in the planning and zoning office, or completed by Willey over the phone.

Willey was hired by Camden County in June of 2014. At the time of her hiring she worked for the city of Osage Beach.
