If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like inside Bagnell Dam, now’s your chance to find out. The Eldon Career Center announced a community education course that will provide a rare opportunity for participants to find out information on local history and experience a Bagnell Dam History Tour.

Ameren typically does not allow tours of the dam but has partnered with the adult and community education program to allow session to take place. Participants will learn local history from Kent Vanlanduyt and Dan Peek, authors of “A People’s History of the Lake of the Ozarks,” during a session held March 20. They will discuss what life was like in the Ozarks before Bagnell Dam and other stories of the Lake’s past.

A second class on March 23 will bring participants to Willmore Lodge where they will tour the museum before heading to Bagnell Dam where Ameren employees will lead a guided tour below Bagnell Dam.

The classes will be held March 20 from 6-8 p.m. and March 23 from 11:30-3 p.m. Cost is $45. To sign up or for more information, go to www.eldonmustangs.org.
