Authorities are investigating a suspect vehicle involved in a police pursuit Tuesday evening. The officer disengaged from the pursuit after the suspect start going the wrong way down US 54.

Authorities are investigating a suspect vehicle involved in a police pursuit Tuesday evening. The officer disengaged from the pursuit after the suspect start going the wrong way down US 54.

According to information from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the chase started when a trooper attempted to stop a blue SUV for a traffic violation on Blue Ridge Road, south of Route D, around 4:30 p.m. The vehicle failed to pull over though and the trooper followed before briefly losing sight of the vehicle near Crybaby Campground.

The trooper located the vehicle a short time later and the vehicle reportedly took off again with the pursuit traveling from Route D onto Osage Beach Parkway in Osage Beach. The chase continued eastbound in the turn lane then from Highway 242 entered the westbound lanes of US 54 traveling eastbound.

The trooper did not follow, according to the MSHP.

The vehicle quickly exited US 54 onto Wood River Road. Officers responded to that area and began searching for the suspect vehicle. The search continued until around 6 p.m., but the vehicle was not located.

The driver was only described as a white male.
