Gerald E. McKenzie, age 84, of Gravois Mills, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 in The Fountains at Greenbriar, Independence, Missouri. He was born May 30, 1933 in Independence, Missouri a son of Cecil R. and Georgia Viola (Neyman) McKenzie.
On October 12, 1974 in Warsaw, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Bonnie S. Clark. Together they shared forty years of marriage until her passing on May 15, 2015.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bob and Jim McKenzie.
Gerald was a graduate of William Chrisman High School and served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. After retiring as a manager from Armco Steel he owned and operated McKenzie Enterprises which specialized in real estate appraisals.
He was a member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie. He was also a member of the Ozarks Community Elks Lodge #2705 in Laurie, the American Legion Post 624 in Sunrise Beach and the Independence #76 AF & AM Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, boating and travel.
Survivors include five daughters, Linda Pescetto of Independence, Missouri, Jerri Carmack of Overland Park, Kansas, Cheri Theodoropoulos of Kissimmee, Florida, Brenda See of Independence, Missouri and Vickie Jeffries of Independence, Missouri; three step-sons, Chuck Schaedler of Sugar Creek, Missouri and Steve Schaedler and Kevin Schaedler both of Independence, Missouri and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 24, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. Visitation will be from 1–2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
