A Kaiser woman was airlifted to treatment after suffering serious injuries in a motor vehicle crash Thursday morning in Callaway County.

Melinda J. Vanpelt, 62, was flown by Staff for Life helicopter service to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. 

She was the driver of a 2007 Honda CRV that went off Highway 94 just west of County Road 4000 shortly before 10 a.m. February 1, 2018. The vehicle struck a ditch and overturned, the crash report states.

A passenger in the vehicle, Sandra L. Otto, 58, of Kaiser, received injuries described as minor. She was taken by ambulance to Capital Region Medical Center.

The crash report indicated both women were wearing seatbelts. The CRV was described as totaled and was towed from the scene.
