An Eldon man was injured in Cole County Tuesday morning when the car he was driving turned around in the eastbound lane of US 54, sliding on ice, and was struck by a pickup.

An Eldon man was injured in Cole County Tuesday morning when the car he was driving turned around in the eastbound lane of US 54, sliding on ice, and was struck by a pickup.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis was totaled and the driver received moderate injuries. Grant H. Lock, 30, was taken by ambulance to SSM Hospital in Jefferson City for treatment.

The driver of the Ford F250 pickup that struck the car was Ronald E. Mitchell, 60, also of Eldon. He was not listed with injuries. The pickup had minor damage.

Both men were reported as wearing seat belts. 

The accident occurred about one-quarter mile west of Highway 17 shortly before 5:30 a.m. January 9, 2018.
